Thanksgiving marks the unofficial start of the holiday season and what better way to celebrate it then in SoBe style? Take a break from tradition. Whether you’re taking a SoBe vacation with friends, family, or as a couple (or solo, whatevs), Miami has plenty of things going on for a Thanksgiving to remember. Here’s how to spend the big day.

Go Outside

This national holiday is the perfect time to get outside and soak up the cooler Miami weather. Take a walk to South Beach. Average Thanksgiving temps are around 80 degrees in the day, so lay outside poolside at WPH, chill on the white sands of SoBe, soak up the rays, and avoid the crowds.

After enjoying an oceanside day, carry on with some chow and a cruise in Magic City. Hop aboard the Venetian Lady, Miami’s newest private luxury charter yacht, for a cruise around Biscayne Bay and a traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet-style feast. This option is the all-inclusive package - grub, entertainment, and an open premium bar.

Get Stuffed

Thanksgiving is synonymous with food. If you’re not practicing absolute gluttony, are you even doing Thanksgiving right?  We’ve rounded up a few of Miami’s hottest restaurants that are putting on a multi-course feast for those who want to avoid the kitchen.

Visit Boulud Sud for a feast of turkey and modern takes on the traditional holiday accompaniments like pumpkin agnolotti, truffle risotto, and caramel fondant. The Dutch will have a special prix fixe dinner featuring their cider-brined turkey, maple bacon Brussels sprouts, and lemon pudding with Grand Marnier. Take a look at Lure Fishbar and Upland Miami’s menus for more options.

If you aren’t one for traditional fare, the Michelin-starred restaurant Azabu, is offering a Japanese-inspired prix fixe menu featuring Wagyu beef tataki, branzino, Japanese whiskey flights, and more. Sette Osteria is doing a classic Italian take on Thanksgiving dinner by serving up ravioli della nonna, homemade pumpkin ravioli topped with amaretti crumbles and a butter sage sauce, ciabatta stuffing, and pancetta Brussels sprouts.

Holidays give you permission to not change out of your pajamas, right? Don’t leave the WPH grounds and visit Employees Only located in our historic Coral house. This retro, Prohibition-style bar and grill is open every day from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Best to book ahead at these local eateries.

Hit up Miami’s hottest clubs in the wee hours before Black Friday. Head to Story for the official release of City Girls’ album Girl Code or Club Space for the beats of Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann. The German DJ duo are recognized as a few of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. These late night dance parties are perfect for a Friendsgiving or couple’s night out.

If you’re craving something quieter, visit the Ziff Opera House for a live performance of Hello, Dolly! or make the hour-long trek north to Fort Lauderdale’s Au-Rene Theater for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I.
