Take a break from the party and channel your zen with one of South Beach's top yoga studios. We've narrowed down five of our favorites to energize before a busy day or settle down after sunset.
Beach Yoga: 3rd Street Beach Yoga
3rd Street and Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139
Founded on the belief that yoga should be accessible to all, regardless of budget, 3rd Street Beach Yoga offers donation-based classes 365 days a year. Oh, and did we mention each class is taught on the beach? Grab your towel and SPF and enjoy practice at sunrise or sunset. And not to worry if you’re a newbie—both beginners and advanced yogis are welcome. Classes blend elements of vinyasa (breath-to-body movement), Iyengar (holding poses for more than five breaths), meditation, and Ashtanga (a repetition of poses).
Hot Yoga: Glow Hot Yoga
1560 Lenox Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139
Glow Hot Yoga teaches classes in 105-degree heat to allow the body to open with ease and increase flexibility. Styles include hot vinyasa, Bikram (traditional 26-pose hot practice), Yin (long, restorative poses), and pilates (a yoga-inspired strength-building practice). On Tuesdays, our hotel teams up with Glow, offering a rotation of vinyasa and Yin classes on our rooftop! A complimentary bottle of water is included to keep you hydrated.
Ashtanga Yoga: Miami Life Center
736 6th Street Miami Beach, Florida, 33139
Founders of the Miami Life Center, Tim Feldman and Kino MacGregor, were authorized to teach under the father of Ashtanga yoga, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga is a modern-day form of traditional Indian yoga, where students repeat the same sequences, eventually graduating to more advanced tiers. This husband-and-wife duo integrate anatomy, alignment, meditation, and philosophy into their classes, backed with knowledge accrued from decades of experience. Due to their world travel, Tim and Kino are only available for workshops held in the studio, however, their certified instructors offer high-quality classes with the same sentiment that simply can’t be missed if you’re a yogi en route to Miami.
Family-Friendly Yoga: Sharanam Yoga
Synergy Miami Beach, 435 Espanola Way, Miami Florida, 33139
Sharanam Yoga holds classes the whole family will love. Founding instructor Jennieke Janaki employs restorative techniques to help surrender the mind, body, and ego of adults, children, and seniors alike. Children’s classes help your little one playfully practice interconnectedness, relaxation, and interdependence. Senior classes incorporate a similar philosophy and flow as the adult classes, while also following ancient techniques to stimulate circulation, range of motion in joints, and lower back pain. Sharanam Yoga is offered Wednesday through Friday at Synergy Miami Beach.
